Legal aid is the provision supplied by your welfare state in order to offer assistance with legal issues and supply those on low income access to justice. Approximately £2 billion a year is available to assist those in need of legal help. Legal aid may be required in the case of divorce, immigration queries or in the event of accidents. It is a free service that will have to be applied for to determine whether or not you a re eligible.

Legal advice is essential in any legal matter and solicitors and advisors will point you in the right direction. We all have the right to a fair trial and there are many law practices that assist in the different types of legal aid. In the event of criminal defence legal aid being required, the government has re-instated means testing to ensure that only those eligible receive legal aid.

A range of civil disputes including school admission fees and relationship disputes will no longer be eligible for legal aid however cases where the client is at immediate risk such as housing issues and mental health issues will all continue to be funded.
